FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. — Five nationally prominent breast cancer medical and surgical oncologists joined MemorialCare Medical Group, expanding MemorialCare’s world-class cancer services throughout Orange and Southern Los Angeles counties.

The leading cancer specialists—newest members of MemorialCare Cancer Institute—include breast medical oncologist John Link, M.D.; breast surgical oncologists Lisa Guerra, M.D., Amy Bremner, M.D. and Shawndeep Tung, M.D.; and medical oncologist Bhavana Pathak, M.D. They join MemorialCare Breast Center’s expert, multidisciplinary team of specialists in oncology, radiology, radiation oncology, pathology, surgery, genetics and other specialties.

Together, they bring several decades of experience at leading breast cancer centers. Throughout their careers they have been principal investigators for multiple breast cancer and other clinical trials, sought-after presenters at numerous medical conferences, noted authors of peer-reviewed medical journals and book chapters, and frequently appear in media interviews as cancer experts. In Orange County, they treat patients in their offices in Newport Beach, Laguna Hills and Orange, and at MemorialCare Cancer Institute facilities at Orange Coast and Saddleback Medical Centers.

Among the world’s acclaimed breast oncologists, speaker, educator and researcher, John Link, M.D. founded one of the nation’s first comprehensive breast cancer diagnostic, treatment and research centers at MemorialCare Long Beach Medical Center. He is the author of The Breast Cancer Survival Manual, the most widely read book for newly diagnosed breast cancer patients.

Leading breast cancer surgeon and speaker, Lisa Guerra, M.D., is widely published in prestigious journals, principal and sub-investigator for multiple breast cancer clinical trials and presents at numerous medical meetings. She has expertise in oncoplastic surgery, intraoperative radiation therapy, managing high-risk patients, and recognized for leadership in advancing breast cancer awareness.

With extensive experience providing exceptional patient care, Amy Bremner, M.D., specializes in the surgical treatment of breast cancer. She believes in a multidisciplinary approach to cancer care and is an advocate of oncoplastic breast surgery, which simultaneously achieves both excellent cosmetic results and a reduction in recurrence. Other areas of expertise include breast conserving surgery, intraoperative radio therapy, risk assessment and genetic testing. Dr. Bremner received her medical degree at Georgetown University Medical School in Washington, D.C., before continuing with her general surgery training at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena, California. She completed her breast surgery fellowship at the University of Southern California.

Shawndeep Tung, M.D., highly regarded breast surgical oncologist, completed a fellowship in breast surgical oncology at Georgetown University Hospital and a postdoctoral fellowship in stem cell transplantation and cellular therapy at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, the nation’s top-rated center devoted exclusively to prevention, cancer care, research and education.

Bhavana Pathak, M.D., expert in integrative oncology and complementary medicine in cancer care, is an acknowledged clinician, researcher and educator. Graduate of Boston University School of Medicine and named its Outstanding Medical Student, she completed a residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital and fellowship in hematology and oncology at University of Irvine Medical Center.
