About
Shawndeep S. Tung, MD, was born and raised in Southern California, but ventured overseas to complete his medical education in Poland. In Texas, Dr. Tung completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the department of Stem Cell Transplantation and Cellular Therapy at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. He went on to complete a General Surgery residency at Nassau University Medical Center on New York’s long Island and then decided to focus on a career in breast oncology. His fellowship in Breast Surgical Oncology was at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington DC.
After losing both of my maternal aunts to breast cancer, I made a commitment to my mother that I would use my training to help as many women as possible avoid a similar fate.
Dr. Tung is committed to empowering his patients with informative knowledge of their diagnosis and helping them through their cancer journey. He cherishes the opportunity to help his patients on the road to recovery and offers a personal approach to care that considers the mental toll a cancer diagnosis can have on patients. His goal is for his patients to leave his office in a better state mentally than when they first walked in, while also caring for their physical health.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Tung enjoys snowboarding, playing chess, golfing, playing the piano, traveling, and photography. He is a family man who absolutely adores his wife and son. Additionally, he speaks conversational Punjabi and Hungarian.

Dr. Tung checks the patients recent tests and summaries to see where they are with their health- checking the good improvements and any recent concerns or symptoms. Unfortunately doctors today have to have such short sppts that they often don't have time to cover the pertinent info in detail and give answers to patient concerns. Doctor visits should be of quality time with a patient instead of quantity of visits on a doctor's schedule. I am fortunate to have a PPO and choose doctors on their education, training, responsibilities and expertise of treatments. A 5 or 8 minute visit really isn't practical for a physician to address the needs of the patient. Doctor Tung is excellent at packing in a great deal of pertinent info into an short appt. but a lot of Providence and Memorial Care doctors aren't able to

Excellent Experience with Dr. Tung.I experienced a scare last March 2024. Dr. Tung was very positive & explained everything to me in detail. Luckily after ultrasound and biopsy everything came back negative. I just did imaging and follow up with Dr. Tung after six month. He’s the best doctor! Dr. Tung takes his time to ensure that you as a patient are not only cared for physically, but are seen as an individual who deserves to be a part of planning their care. He sat down and answered questions, while making sure he fully understood my medical history, without it feeling rushed or bothersome to him whatsoever. His staff was incredibly kind and proficient even at drawing my blood when I am usually a difficult stick.

Absolutely excellent care!This was my first time visiting this office and seen Dr. Tung. Even though I was a bit late to my appointment, his staff was very kind and made sure that I was brought back immediately and allowed to fill my forms out after my appointment. The medical assistant was very professional, and was able to draw my blood on the first try even though most people have a difficult time with me. Dr. Tung himself was of the best bedside manners I have ever encountered in a physician. He sat down, insured, that he fully understood my medical history, and helped me develop a plan where I was able to be a part of , what fit into my life and health goals. I look forward to being his patient for a very long time.

The staff was all incredibly welcoming and kind. Even though I was late for my appointment, they were accommodating and made sure that all my questions were answered. Dr. Tung spent his time insuring he fully understood my concerns and needs, and developed a plan which he allowed me to be a part of. I have never felt so heard, and cared for as an individual during an initial visit with a provider. I look forward to the personalized care that I will be able to receive with this amazing team!
