Ravi M Menghani, MD

Ravi Menghani, M.D.,  is an accomplished eye physician, surgeon, and non-profit entrepreneur. He hails from a family of engineers and entrepreneurs. A Southern California native, he attended University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) on Regents’, Alumni, and National Merit Scholarships. He graduated with a degree in Biochemistry was selected to join the Phi Beta Kappa, Golden Key International Honour, and Alpha Lambda Delta honor societies. He then went on to complete an MD/MBA program at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and the Anderson School of Management with an emphasis on Finance and Entrepreneurship.

During his extensive training, Dr. Menghani founded two non-profit charitable organizations to build clinics in impoverished villages in India and to help the most needy in Nicaragua. As a result of his efforts, he was awarded with the prestigious “Golden Key International Honour Society Alumni of the Year Award” in 2009-2010. During his time at UCLA, Dr. Menghani also conducted extensive research on thyroid eye disease in the laboratory of Dr. Robert Goldberg and Dr. Raymond Douglas, and published in nationally read ophthalmology journals.

Dr. Menghani completed his internship in internal medicine at St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach where he was nominated Chief Intern and awarded “Intern of the Year.” He then went on to complete his surgical ophthalmology residency at University of California Irvine’s Gavin Herbert Eye Institute, known for high surgical volumes.

Dr. Menghani specializes in cataract surgery, pterygium surgery, and refractive cataract surgery with an emphasis on achieving optimum vision for his patients. Dr. Menghani personally sees all his pre-operative and post-operative patients, choosing not to refer them to optometrists for co-management. He also treats patients for glaucoma, retina, and corneal pathology. He also specializes in laser treatment for glaucoma and retinal disease. His office is optimized with state-of-the art diagnostic and imaging equipment to provide you with the best possible care.

Dr. Menghani is currently active and on staff at all of the major Long Beach hospitals and serves on the Community Hospital Long Beach Strategic Advisory Board as well as the Board of Directors for MemorialCare’s Physician Society. He regularly takes Emergency Room call at many of the hospitals.

Dr. Menghani is fluent in English, Spanish and is conversational in some Indian languages.

Outside of practice, Dr. Menghani enjoys spending time with his wife, travel and fine dining.
