Maria C Dungo, MD

Dr. Maria Dungo is a board-certified medical oncologist at the MemorialCare Todd Cancer Institute at Long Beach Medical Center and with the Los Alamitos Hematology & Oncology Medical Group in Los Alamitos.

Dr. Dungo received her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. She completed her residency in internal medicine at University of California, Davis Medical Center in Sacramento and her fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at Harbor UCLA Medical Center.

Dr. Dungo is triple board-certified in internal medicine, hematology and oncology. For the last eight years, Dr. Dungo has served as the Program Director for the Medical Oncology & Hematology Fellowship Program at Harbor UCLA Medical Center and continues as an Associate Professor at the David Geffen School of Medicine at Harbor UCLA Medical Center.

When developing a specific treatment plan, Dr. Dungo shares, “My approach focuses on the patient as a whole person, not simply limited to their medical health and medications, but also taking into account their personal goals, social situation and constraints. My goal is to always try to educate and empower them…to get them through this by being their own advocate, and hopefully shine as a mentor for others, to help change the stigma of cancer.”

Dr. Dungo is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), American Society of Hematology (ASH), and American Medical Association (AMA).
