About
Dr. Jose Luis Aranez is a board-certified gastroenterologist who specializes in advanced therapeutic endoscopy procedures.
Dr. Aranez received his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean and completed his internal medicine and chief medical residency from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He then completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of Rochester Medical Center followed by a second fellowship in advanced therapeutic endoscopy (AES) from Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Aranez is board certified in both internal medicine and gastroenterology.
His practice includes general gastroenterology with interests in GERD, peptic ulcer disease, colorectal cancer screening. His clinical interest includes the diagnosis, staging, and management of gastrointestinal malignancy and the utilization of therapeutic endoscopy to offer minimally invasive procedures.
In addition to upper endoscopy and colonoscopy, Dr. Aranez has specialized training in therapeutic endoscopy which encompasses Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), Cholangioscopy (Spyglass), Pancreatoscopy (Spyglass), Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS), Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR), Enteral Stents (esophageal, gastroduodenal, colon), Luminal Apposing Metal Stents (LAMS), Endoscopic Suturing, Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA).
He is an active member of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE).
In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family, spending time on the beach and outdoor activities, and traveling.

Went to the ER in early August with severe abdominal pain. Was admitted and stayed 3 days. The hospitalist, after hearing past history of ulcers, arranged to have Dr. Aranez perform an EGD while in the hospital. After the procedure, he stopped in the lobby and talked to my family about the procedure and his findings, and provided some recommendations on diet and some non-prescription items that could help. A few days after discharge, he mailed a letter with the EGD results, and said that the samples he took showed no evidence of H. Pylori. In the letter, he invited me to see him in his office for a follow-up visit, if needed. Had the follow-up visit a week ago, and he spent considerable time going over a list of symptoms and explaining the most likely causes of each. He again gave recommendations on supplements and diet, and had his PA provide a handout with more information. He is exceptionally polite and kind.

Treated while in hospital in August. Mailed test results with images to home, included letter inviting a follow-up visit, if desired. This was the follow-up.
