James P Meaglia, MD

Dr. James Meaglia, who believes that education and open communication with his patients is essential for good medical care, has been using these standards since beginning his practice in Mission Viejo in 1991. He is convinced these principles are crucial in working with his patients, enabling them to make a knowledgeable and educated decision in their health matters. Along with honesty and integrity, these form the foundation for delivering qualitly health care.

Dr. Meaglia was born and raised in Arcadia, California, one of five children. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern California, Magna cum Laude, and a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Health Sciences, Chicago Medical School. His six years of post-graduate specialty training at the University of California, San Diego Medical Center, were divided into two years of general surgery followed by four years of in-depth training in adult and pediatric urology. During these years, he developed an avid interest in cancer surgery, impotence and kidney stone treatment.

Within his specialty field, Dr. Meaglia has authored articles published in the internationally recognized Journal of Urology. Dr. Meaglia is a member of the American Urological Association (A.U.A.) and a diplomat of the American Board of Urology. He has been honored by invitations to present papers at the annual meetings of the American Urological Association and its Western Section.

Dr. Meaglia resides in San Clemente with his wife, Diane, a registered dental hygienist, and their daughter, Gianna. He has strong ties to the San Clemente community where his parents have also resided for over 25 years. He enjoys golf, basketball and surfing.
