Cristina M Farkas-Skiles, MD

Cristina Farkas-Skiles, MD, attended medical school at Vanderbilt School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee. She chose a career in medicine because she wanted to serve others through treating illnesses and supporting families. As a teenager, she was inspired to become a medical provider after her father completed his treatment for cancer. She was so grateful for the medical professionals who helped keep her father in her life.

During medical school, Dr. Farkas-Skiles decided to become a pediatric nephrologist after seeing her pediatric professors’ abilities to diagnose and treat disease, while supporting a child’s development, nutrition and playtime. Currently as a pediatric nephrologist, Dr. Farkas-Skiles has her dream job serving patients in her community.

The most common illnesses Dr. Farkas-Skiles treats are hypertension, hydronephrosis, single kidney, hematuria (blood in urine), proteinuria (protein in urine), kidney stones, recurrent urinary tract infections, nephrotic syndrome, glomerulonephritis, kidney cysts, hypercalcemia, renal tubular acidosis, chronic kidney disease, lupus nephritis and kidney injury.

I enjoy seeing my patients recover from being very sick in the hospital and get back to school and play at home again! I want every child or adolescent and their parent(s) to understand that I am a guide to help them meet their health challenges. You may have never experienced your disease before, but I have knowledge and treatments to share with you so your child can thrive!

Dr. Farkas-Skiles grew up in San Diego, California. Outside of medicine, she enjoys going to the beach with her husband and son, teaching her dog and cat new tricks, reading novels, and gardening.
