Dr. Alan R. Schenk is a Board-Certified Rheumatologist in private practice in Southern Orange County since 1984.

Dr. Schenk was born and raised in New York and received his undergraduate and medical school training at the State University of New York at Buffalo. After his Internal Medicine Residency in Miami, he completed his Rheumatology fellowship at the University of California/Irvine.

Dr. Schenk was one of 500 rheumatologists nationwide who were named Top Doctor by U.S. News and World Report in 2012. He was named a Top Doctor by Orange Coast Magazine and the Orange County Medical Association for 2013-2017. He is Clinical Professor at the UC/Irvine College of Medicine, Division of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology, and is founder and medical director of the Arthritis and Rheumatic Disease Center in Laguna Woods.

Dr. Schenk was the founding director of the Saddleback Osteoporosis Clinic. He is certified in the interpretation of bone density studies (DXA) by the International Society for Clinical Densitometry. He incorporated diagnostic ultrasound and ultrasound-guided injection techniques into his practice in 2006, and added occupational therapy in 2011, both firsts among Orange County rheumatologists.

Dr. Schenk resides in south Orange County with his wife Nancy and has two young-adult children. He has performed on acoustic jazz guitar and mandolin with small ensembles and big bands, in a variety of venues, including the Laguna Beach Festival of the Arts, Sawdust, and Art-A- Fair.
