Volunteering is good for you and good for your community
Saddleback Medical Center has openings for a variety of volunteer opportunities at its nonprofit hospital in Laguna Hills. Volunteers 16 years-of-age and older are needed to direct visitors, assist in the gift shop and information desk, provide hospital escort and messenger services, assist on nursing units, provide wheelchair assistance, hospice home visits, hospice pet therapy program assistance and more.
“There’s no better way to support your community than to volunteer,” said Julia Lieberman, Director, Volunteer Services, Saddleback Medical Center. “Our volunteer program offers a great opportunity to provide community service, support your local hospital, gain insight into hospital careers and experience the hospital environment.”
Volunteering has its health benefits as well. According to a study done by the Corporation for National Community Service, volunteering leads to lower mortality rates, greater functional ability and lower rates of depression than for those who don’t volunteer.
“Volunteering provides an opportunity to discover your hidden talents, share your known talents, develop relationships, and give back in one of the most rewarding ways,” added Lieberman.
