In a rigorous assessment of more than 4,500 adult hospitals, U.S. News & World Report recognized MemorialCare Health System’s Long Beach MemorialOrange Coast Memorial Medical Center in Fountain Valley and Saddleback Memorial Medical Center in Laguna Hills 21 times as “high performing” in several clinical categories. Additionally, Long Beach Memorial has been recognized as a “Best Hospital” by U.S. News & World Report with 23 rankings of “high performing” across 13 areas of care.

The annual Best Hospitals rankings are designed to help patients make informed decisions about where to receive care for life-threatening conditions or for common elective procedures. The U.S. News methodologies include risk-adjusted survival and readmission rates, volume, patient experience, patient safety, quality of nursing care and other care-related indicators.

“These achievements are a testament to the dedication and teamwork of our 15,000 employees, physicians and volunteers who continually strive to advance our mission to deliver advanced, high-quality health services for all Southern Californians,” says Barry Arbuckle, PhD, president and CEO, MemorialCare Health System.

Long Beach Memorial has appeared on many national “Best Hospitals” lists in numerous clinical categories since U.S. News & World Report began its annual rankings. It is also among a small percentage of U.S. hospitals consistently recognized for outstanding dedication to patient safety--maintaining a top “A” grade in eight of 10 Leapfrog Group Hospital Safety Score evaluations.

“These continued awards and accolades demonstrate that we never lose sight of the needs of our patients while consistently achieving high levels of excellence,” says John Bishop, CEO, Long Beach Memorial, Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach and Community Hospital Long Beach. “We take enormous pride in these remarkable accomplishments.”
