Local businesses located near the intersection of Redondo Ave. and Broadway, coined the Heights Village Shopping District in the Belmont Heights, Bluff Heights and Bluff Park neighborhoods are coming together for a very special cause, cancer. In addition to businesses being open later, more than six gourmet food trucks will be serving food curbside on Broadway and Redondo Avenue with a portion of their sales going to benefit cancer education programs for patients and staff at the MemorialCare Breast Center which is part of the MemorialCare Todd Cancer Institute at Long Beach Medical Center. There will be activities and an opportunity drawing throughout the night.

The fundraising event, Season’s Eating’s, will be the Heights Village Shopping District’s first ever event together. Other local businesses have supported the Breast Center’s support programs in the past and the district has decided to rally around this cause.

“We decided to coordinate a fundraiser that not only helped cancer education programs at Long Beach Medical Center but that also brought the neighborhood together to enjoy tasty food and see what our shopping district had to offer,” says Sidney Cramer, owner of Spa Sidney and event coordinator. “A nearby business owner had hosted a fundraising event for the Breast Center, earlier in the year and we were all touched by the cause. It was something that we could easily do to give back to the community.”

The MemorialCare Breast Center is dedicated to the early detection and treatment of breast cancer and offers comprehensive care, including digital mammograms and bone density screenings using the latest digital mammography, breast MRI and ultrasound technology. The multidisciplinary team of expert physicians, technologists and clinicians take a comprehensive approach to provide the best possible care. All of the radiologists are fellowship-trained subspecialists in breast imaging. And there are dedicated female radiologists, who specialize in breast imaging, interpreting every exam. The MemorialCare Breast Center was named a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology and was among America’s top breast centers according to Self Magazine.

The event starts at 4 p.m. and goes until 8 p.m. The food trucks that will be at the event are India Jones – spicy Mediterranean food, Greenz on Wheelz – salads and sandwiches, CoolHaus – ice cream sandwiches, Vizzi Trucks – voted one of LA’s best food trucks by Zagat ratings, Global Soul – soul food, Crepen Around – crepes and Temaki Truck – sushi.
