Obstetrical Emergency Department
Our 24/7 Obstetrical Emergency Department offers specialized care for patients 12 weeks pregnant to 6 weeks postpartum. Staffed with board-certified OB hospitalists, we assess and treat urgent pregnancy-related concerns like labor contractions, abnormal bleeding, high-risk conditions, and decreased fetal movement.
Specialized, Experienced Nurses
Saddleback Medical Center is a Magnet-designated hospital, the highest distinction for nursing excellence. Our 24/7 labor, delivery, and postpartum nurses provide compassionate, expert support.
Orange County’s First Hospital Doula Program
The Women’s Hospital at Saddleback Medical Center is the first and only hospital in Orange County to offer a complimentary, hospital-based doula program. Our specially trained doulas are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to provide continuous, non-medical support throughout labor.
Your doula works alongside your OB/GYN, certified nurse-midwife and nursing team, providing emotional, physical and educational support through comfort measures, breathing techniques, position changes, encouragement and guidance. This additional layer of personalized support for you and your partner is offered at no extra cost.
You can request hospital doula support through your birth preferences form at your OB/GYN or midwife’s office or when you arrive at the hospital. Community doulas are also welcome to remain part of your care team.

Our luxurious and comfortable Labor-Delivery-Recovery-Postpartum (LDRP) suites have had recent aesthetic updates featuring natural light, Bluetooth speakers, and Himalayan salt lamps.
Fully equipped for every stage of birth, six suites include soaking tubs, and we offer natural birthing aids like peanut balls and rocking chairs. Our rooms feature spa-like comforts, a chair with pull-out bed for partners, room service, and a celebratory brunch. To ensure availability, some families may be transferred to our private postpartum unit on the 1st floor with similar amenities and the same specialized nursing care.
