How Gastric Sleeve Surgery Is Performed
Gastric sleeve surgery or sleeve gastrectomy involves stapling approximately 70-80 percent of the stomach's natural capacity without involving the intestinal tract.
An advantage of the sleeve gastrectomy is that the patient experiences a significant amount of restriction immediately after surgery without having to make manual adjustments as in gastric banding.
The gastric sleeve surgery can be performed robotically. Using the latest robotic surgical system, our surgeons have improved visualization, dexterity, precision and control, while only making small 1-2 cm incisions. Our patients often experience less pain and scarring, shorter hospital stays, and a quicker recovery to normal activity.
