As part of Memorial Health Services, Saddleback Memorial Medical Center (SMMC) is proud provide MemorialCare® -- The Standard of Excellence in Health Care. MemorialCare® is our own unique brand of health care provided at SMMC in Laguna Hills and San Clemente and at our four sister hospitals – Anaheim Memorial Medical Center, Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center, Long Beach Memorial Medical Center and Miller Children’s Hospital at Long Beach Memorial.

Does my gift to Saddleback Memorial Foundation benefit other MemorialCare® hospitals?
No. Your gift to Saddleback Memorial Foundation can only benefit Saddleback Memorial Medical Center. You also have a choice of how you would like to designate your gift at SMMC Laguna Hills or San Clemente.

How does the Foundation recognize the gifts of its donors?
Without your caring generosity, much of the vital work of Saddleback Memorial Medical Center would not be possible. While words can never fully express our gratitude, we would like to recognize your contribution in these ways…

  • You will receive a thank-you note, a letter and/or phone call from us. This will be done within 2 working days of our receipt of your gift.
  • You will be recognized as a donor in our Annual Report (if your gift is $100 or more) and on our Web site.

How much of my gift goes directly to the program or equipment I designate?
100 percent of donations to designated programs or equipment and to endowments are used for that program, equipment or endowment. From 1983 to 2005, Saddleback Memorial Foundation has spent on average 14.8 cents per dollar raised on administrative costs.

May I make monthly, quarterly or annual gifts?
Whatever suits you best. You have the option to give on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis. We can work with you in arriving at the flexible giving schedule that is most convenient for you.

When can I expect my receipt?
We will send you your tax receipt within 2 working days of our receipt of your gift. If you encounter any problem with your tax receipt, please contact:

Who gives to Saddleback Memorial Foundation?
In Fiscal Year 2005, the Foundation received 3,374 gifts ranging from $1 to $50 million. We also received 53,450 hours of compassionate service from our dedicated group of over 600 volunteers.

Our donors and volunteers include individuals, corporations and foundations from diverse backgrounds – like the legendary philanthropists Bill and Louise Meiklejohn – 14-year-old Hayden Stephan who sold mistletoe to benefit SMF… and several other foundations, including Allergan and Citigroup Foundation.

Our physicians also play a key philanthropic role in supporting the Medical Center – by giving both their treasure and their time to inspire others to give.

We are grateful for your generous spirit of giving. Your gifts have enabled us to serve you, your loved-ones and your friends with our hallmark high quality and compassionate care.
