Dr. Setty completed his general surgery residency at the renowned Oregon Health Sciences University, one of the largest general surgery training programs in the country. He also spent a year during his training at Green Lane Hospital in New Zealand as a pediatric and adult cardiac surgery fellow. He then spent 3 years at the University of Minnesota/ Lillehei Heart Institute, the birthplace of cardiac surgery, completing his cardiothoracic surgery training. He performed his congenital heart surgery fellowship at the esteemed Royal Childrens Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. Dr. Setty is triple-board-certified in surgery, thoracic surgery, & congenital heart surgery.
He has experience in all aspects of pediatric and adult congenital cardiac surgery including neonatal and transplant surgery. He is currently involved in basic and clinical cardiac research projects.
He is a member of the medical school honor society, Alpha Omega Alpha. Dr. Setty also has numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, to his credit including a recently published article in collaboration with UCLA on Circulatory Support Devices in Advances in Heart Failure. He is on the advisory board of a congenital heart journal and has been invited to review manuscripts for many other journals. In addition, he has made over forty research presentations or lectures on pediatric and adult cardiac issues and treatment.
Dr. Setty's primary interest is in providing the highest level of individualized care for each one of his patients.
