Jonathan Jaques Children's Cancer Center (JJCCC)
at Miller Children's Hospital in Long Beach
The Jonathan Jaques Children’s Cancer Center (JJCCC) at Miller Children’s Hospital provides quality, compassionate care to children of all ages—infants, children and adolescents—with cancer, sickle cell disease and other serious blood disorders. The Center is known for its comprehensive psychosocial programs and multidisciplinary care teams that enhance patient care to improve the lives of families in Los Angeles County and Orange County, California and beyond. JJCCC’s strong emphasis on integrating new research efforts into treatment plans allows patients access to leading therapies.
Family Centered Care is Our Focus
Understanding that children need to be cared for differently than adults is a cornerstone of our program—Jonathan Jaques Children’s Cancer Center is committed to providing support for both patients and their families.JJCCC’s specially trained multidisciplinary care team is available for patients from the day of admission, their time in the hospital and through follow-up treatment. When a young patient is diagnosed with cancer, the health care team creates a care plan that is family centered—focusing on the child’s needs as well as the family’s—and follows them throughout childhood and into adulthood.
This continuity of care ensures that the highest quality of care is provided to patients and their families every step of the way. Patients and families gain peace of mind as they become familiar with the health care team and establish relationships that will last throughout their journey.
Caring for Children with Cancer throughout Their Journey for 25 Years
In 1976, 16-year old Jonathan Jaques inspired the creation of the Center by giving his life savings to his parents and asking them to help future children with cancer. Although Jonathan lost his battle with cancer, his legacy lives on through the Center that was dedicated in his name in 1983.
