Kristine Penner, M.D., is a gynecologic oncologist at the MemorialCare Todd Cancer Institute at Long Beach Memorial. She specializes in the diagnosis and comprehensive treatment of cancers of the female pelvic organs, with special interests in minimally invasive surgery and medical management of endometrial cancer.
Dr. Penner joined Long Beach Memorial in 2013 and is a member of the University of California, Irvine Gynecology Oncology Division. Dr. Penner completed her undergraduate degree in Human Biology with a minor in Latin American Studies at Stanford University, then obtained her medical degree from UC San Francisco School of Medicine.
During medical school, she simultaneously pursued a Masters of Public Health and Masters of Sciences in Health and Medical Sciences at UC Berkeley, focusing on the health of immigrant women and their children.
Dr. Penner completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at UCLA’s David Geffen School of Medicine and her fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology in the UCLA-Cedars Sinai Fellowship program.
She has clinical expertise in comprehensive minimally invasive surgical procedures, including robotic-assited surgery. She is an expert on the diagnosis and management of early endometrial cancer in women who desire future fertility, one of her research interests. Other research interests include early detection and prevention of endometrial and cervical cancer and gynecologic oncology care for minority and immigrant, and underserved patients.
