About the Community Hospital Long Beach Foundation

Community Hospital Long Beach's (CHLB) philanthropy began with a charitable gift in 1924 from then-Long Beach Mayor Fillmore Condit. His spirit of generosity continues today through the programs and activities of the Community Hospital Long Beach Foundation, which was started in 1972 by Jess Grundy.
The Community Hospital Long Beach Foundation gives donors from all walks of life the opportunity to exercise their abundant spirits of generosity and caring for the hospital. The Foundation raises funds through a variety of outstanding programs including planned giving, capital campaigns, support groups, special events and grantsmanship.
The Foundation also identifies and cultivates donors whose philanthropic interests coincide with the hospital's programs and services. In many instances, the Foundation arranges the financial or legal assistance required for major gifts or preparation of wills and bequests.
Annual events include the Condit Spirit Awards in the fall and the Community Classic golf tournament in the summer. Proceeds from both events ensure that Community Hospital continues to provide quality healthcare by optimizing the latest medical technologies, and providing the services and programs for the diverse needs of our community.
