Long Beach Memorial and Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach Physicians Among the Best in the Nation

100 physicians from LBM and MCHLB honored in “Best Doctors in America” and 2010 “Southern California Super Doctors” Reports

LONG BEACH, Calif. – February 10, 2010 – Long Beach Memorial (LBM) and Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach (MCHLB) today announced that 100 physicians have been recognized in the “Best Doctors in America” and 2010 “Super Doctors of Southern California” reports, a prestigious honor in that they are among the very best in the nation in their respective specialty.

The 45,000 physicians listed in the “Best Doctor’s in America” report represent the top 5 percent of the nation’s practicing board-certified physicians. The “Super Doctors of California” report, published each year in Los Angeles Magazine, features the top 5 percent of physicians in Los Angeles and Orange counties who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.

The 2010 Southern California “Top Doctors” report is led by the Key Professional Media Group, which conducts research, performs polling and selects physicians for inclusion into the list. Ballets are sent to more than 31,000 medical professionals who were asked to nominate at least one doctor other than themselves, based on, “If you needed medical care, which doctor would you choose?” Panelists reviewed and scored the nominees based on their primary practice area. The physicians included in the “Best Doctors in America” report are determined via an extensive peer-review process by thousands of doctors across the nation, which is conducted by Boston-based Best Doctors, Inc. Doctors are asked a series of questions such as, “If you or a loved one needed a doctor in your specialty, which would you refer them to?” The unique strength of “Best Doctors” is that a physician must be nominated by a current honoree to be considered for inclusion into the report and only currently selected Best Doctors are eligible to vote.
