Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center Receives Approval from Fountain Valley City Council to Develop New Patient Care PavilionJuly 01, 2007Hospital’s Expansion Project to Improve Access to High Quality Healthcare Services for Growing Community Pavilion to Open in Spring 2009 FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. – Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center has announced that it received approval from the Fountain Valley City Council on September 4, 2007 to develop the new Orange Coast Patient Care Pavilion, scheduled to open in spring 2009. The six-story, 162,500 square foot pavilion will serve as the new front door to the hospital and will be the new home for the MemorialCare Cancer Center; The Orange Coast Cardiovascular Center; The Orange Coast Outpatient Surgery Center and advanced imaging services, providing patients the most innovative treatment and diagnostic services under one roof. “We are extremely pleased with the City Council’s decision to approve our plans to build the Orange Coast Patient Care Pavilion,” said Marcia Manker, chief executive officer of Orange Coast Memorial. “I am grateful for the careful time and consideration each of the voting members took in their decision to allow Orange Coast Memorial the opportunity to continue meeting our community’s healthcare needs now and well into the future. We are excited to begin turning our vision into a reality for our community and are extremely grateful for their amazing support throughout this process. The Patient Care Pavilion will be a modern, high-quality medical facility that our neighbors and the community can be proud of.” Since 1996, Orange Coast Memorial has experienced a 245 percent increase in total patient growth and a 330 percent increase in outpatient services. Utilization of most health care services occurs predominantly among the older-adult population and the senior community surrounding the hospital is projected to experience a 22 percent growth surge in that population over the next five years. To address the health care needs of its growing community, Orange Coast Memorial identified an imminent need to expand. “Over the years we have listened very closely to our community and its needs. We have responded with centers of excellence, state-of-the-art technology, some of Orange County’s most respected physicians and now a new Patient Care Pavilion,” said Manker. “We are growing together as a community and as a hospital. We are confident that this expansion project will bring many great benefits. It will increase the tax base for our city, create important and high-quality job growth and most importantly is the next step towards achieving the gold standard for healthcare in our community.” Like Us.
