More Than 40 Physicians from LBMMC, MCHLB and CHLB Recognized as Best in their Fields by Leading ReportJanuary 23, 2012More Than 40 Physicians from Long Beach Memorial, Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach and Community Hospital Long Beach Recognized as Best in their Fields by Leading Report “2012 Southern California Super Doctors” Recognizes Top Five Percent of Physicians LONG BEACH, Calif. – Jan. 23, 2012 – Long Beach Memorial, Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach and Community Hospital Long Beach today announced that more than 40 of its physicians have been recognized among the best in their fields by the 2012 Southern California Super Doctors report. The 2012 Southern California Super Doctors report recognizes approximately the top five percent of active doctors in Los Angeles and Orange counties. The selection process relies on peer review, surveying more than 30,000 physicians in Southern California to ensure that the physicians named are the most respected and talented in their fields. “I’m proud of all the recognized physicians at Long Beach Memorial, Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach and Community Hospital Long Beach. As an organization, it is our mission to provide the highest quality of care, while also developing the most advanced treatments in the region,” said Diana Hendel, PharmD, CEO of Long Beach Memorial, Miller Children’s and Community Hospital Long Beach. “Year after year our physicians consistently achieve these standards of excellence and are rightly honored as some of the best throughout Southern California.” Since the Super Doctors list expanded to include all of Southern California in 2008, several doctors have appeared on the list every year. Long Beach Memorial, Miller Children’s and Community Hospital Long Beach have seen 22 physicians achieve that status. The Super Doctors peer review selection process asks doctors to nominate fellow physicians by answering the question, “If you needed medical care, which doctor would you choose?” In addition, candidates were evaluated based on professional achievement, as well as the Super Doctors’ ‘blue ribbon panel review’ process, where physicians in more than 30 specialties evaluate the list of nominees. Long Beach Memorial, Miller Children’s and Community Hospital Long Beach physicians were recognized in areas including pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, cardiology, urology, family medicine, medical oncology and hematology, dermatology, gastroenterology, pediatric hematology/oncology and more.
