Physicians from Long Beach Memorial Recognized By Leading ReportsMay 24, 2011LONG BEACH, Calif. – May 24, 2011 – Today, Long Beach Memorial announced that a group of its physicians have been recognized among the best in their fields by the 2011 Southern California Super Doctors and/or the 2011-2012 Best Doctors in America® reports. The 2011 Southern California Super Doctors report recognizes approximately the top five percent of active doctors in Los Angeles and Orange counties, while the Best Doctors in America report recognizes the top 5 percent of physicians practicing in the U.S. Both reports survey doctors to create their lists, ensuring that the physicians named are the most respected and talented in their fields. “The physicians at Long Beach Memorial all share in the goal of providing the highest quality of care, and the newest, most advanced treatments to the region,” said Diana Hendel, PharmD, CEO of Long Beach Memorial, Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach and Community Hospital Long Beach. “It is because of this commitment that our physicians are consistently recognized as some of the best in not only the region, but throughout the entire country.” The Super Doctors selection process involves peer review, where more than 30,000 physicians in Southern California had a chance to nominate fellow physicians by answering the question, “If you needed medical care, which doctor would you choose?” In addition, candidates were evaluated based on professional achievement, as well as the Super Doctors’ ‘blue ribbon panel review’ process, where physicians in more than 30 specialties evaluate the list of nominees. The Best Doctors in America® report surveys currently selected Best Doctors, from their proprietary database of more than 45,000 expert physicians, asking questions about who’s at the top of their profession, who’s up on the latest advances in their field, and therefore, who they would personally turn to for state-of-the-art care when faced with a serious medical problem. Long Beach Memorial physicians were recognized in areas including obstetrics and gynecology, radiation oncology, urology, family medicine, medical oncology and hematology, dermatology, gastroenterology, neurology, pediatric hematology/oncology, and more.
